Weight: 23 pounds, 9 ounces - 80%
Height: 31.25" - 95%
Head: 47.5 cm - 80%

He got three shots to the thighs today and recovered quickly. He'll be starting some vitamins soon and walking will probably start next month... we've been warned.

Sable was perfectly behaved at the Doctors office, reading to herself quietly with a towel. It's a huge improvement over our last visit; Screaming fit! WOW!

Cliff is perfect. Next appointment in 3 months.

No waiting in the Emergency Room

Last night Sable and I went to the ER. She has a severe ear infection in her left ear. The doctors were amazing and even gave her a cute teddy bear for being so brave. My poor girl. She has a lot of meds in her and is feeling much better. We were in and out of the ER in less than 1.5 hours.

Doctors comments: He's about two months ahead and officially crawling at 6 months old. Feed him rice cereal 2x per day. He got four shots in his legs. He was upset for a minute then quickly cheered up.

He's large enough and developed enough to start eating baby food, not just formula. He also had some shots and did a great job of getting over them.

2 months old

Clifton had his 2 month checkup today. He's a healthy, ACTIVE boy. He was smiling at the nurse in his charming little way; She felt bad giving him shots. He took 3 needles to the thigh and had one medicine that he drank. He yelled once then went back to smiling.

Height: 25" - 98%
Weight: 14lbs 2 oz - 90%
Head: 41cm - 93%

PPD

I had a few symptoms starting and the Doctor has confirmed that Postpartum Depression has shown it's ugly head. This time Joel and I are on top of it and had it checked out before it got bad (last time I waited to long and it was bad... really bad). I'm feeling tired. I've started working out a little and I'm taking the same medication as last time, it helped a lot. The Doctor also did a blood test on me and was very happy with the results. I'm healthy, just getting moody.

Cliff is here!

Guess who came early!

Clifton Michael Hills
1st of April, 2012 at 9:35am
9lbs, 10.6oz, 21 Inches long

At 6:10 this morning, my water broke. We called Joel's brother Jonathan to babysit Sable, he showed up fast. Joel and I headed to the hospital in a little bit of surprise.

7:00 arrived at the hospital and checked into triage.

8:00 we were in a room. I was having heavy contractions.

8:50 Status upgraded to emergency. The baby was coming FAST! We all ran to the OR and all the nurses started calling in Doctors and staff to help saying "We need to go now." I was contracting bad and had started pushing on the operating room table. "Jason" the anesthesiologist (and my new favorite person) quickly got my spinal in and the operation was started. I was 9cm dilated.

9:35 Clifton Michael Hills was born. During labor, Cliff flipped around and they pulled him out by his feet. No problems.

He has Joel's eye's and short little legs, my chin and Sable's lips and nose. He's a great eater and makes some cute cooing sounds. We've all taken naps and feel great.
It was just SO fast!

Walking Boot

She's dealing with all the Doctors appointments really well and even likes her new "shoe". It's so small that it's actually cute! Thank you Children's Hospital for having them in stock! (or else she'd be in a plaster cast!)

"We ate mud"

Joel and Sable headed outside yesterday to enjoy the sunshine. They made it across the street then slipped in the mud. Joel got Sable off to the side so she wouldn't end up being an airbag for her Daddy's fall. She ended up with scrapes and bruises even on her face and her right knee is very swollen. They were covered in mud. We went to the Doctors today to get her leg checked out and x-rayed. No word yet on whether it's fractured or sprained. She's not in pain, she just wont stand on it. Joel feels horrible.

*** UPDATE ***

Sable has a Distal Tibial "Greenstick Fracture" in her ankle. She will be in a walking boot for 3-4 weeks.
*A greenstick, buckle or torus fracture is a fracture in a young, soft bone in which the bone gets eaten away and partially breaks. A person's bones become harder and more brittle with age. Greenstick fractures usually occur most often during infancy and childhood when bones are soft. The name is by analogy with green wood which similarly breaks on the outside when bent.

Doctors appointment

Well, I failed the 1st glucose test again which means I'll be taking the 3 hour diabetes test next week. I'm not worried about the results, this all happened last time I was pregnant and I ended up being alright. I just need to find the time and a babysitter to do it. Other than that everything is going great!Cliff is measuring normal size, my weight looks good and my iron levels are fine. Joel drove me to the Dr.s office because he's great with snow and ice (Alaska man that he is.) Sable was having a great time checking out the waiting room.

Joel and Sable both have Snow days today! Joel is working on more of his homework while Sable and I are still in our p.j.'s

Family Virus

Family trip to the ER last night. Sable had a high temperature, sore throat and was vomiting the medications we gave her. Daddy took the night shift so I could get some sleep (I'm coming down with the same thing but can't take any medicine for it). Sable does seem better than yesterday though.

Another first...

Sable had a Doctor appointment today to see if her cold turned into anything worse and she has an ear infection in her right ear. This is her first. We've been having insurance issues lately so we had to go to the "clinic", which was creepy. The Doctor was great though; She was from France and loved Sable's name.

20 weeks pregnant! Half way there!

Cleft Sacrum

We confirmed this week that Sable does have a birth defect at the bottom of her spine. We had ex-rays done and it's not hurting her in anyway, just a quirk. The thought is that if there is a defect in one place, there may be a defect in another, like her brain, causing her delay and maintaining the need for an MRI; Joel and I are still discussing the MRI. Sable was so well behaved at her Neuro-developmental exam but it took four people to hold our independent, thirty pound girl for the ex-ray, ha ha!

"Like a Train"

Today was our 10 week appointment with our baby doctor. We asked questions, I got an exam and we looked for the babies heart beat! It was a little early to be looking for it and the Dr. said we may not hear it, but there it was! It sounded like a train engine. My chances of a miscarriage are now "significantly reduced." My exam was great, I'm in perfect health and there are no signs of stress on the baby. This is really happening people!

Sable did a great job at The Center for Pediatric Dentistry today. She knows where her teeth are. The office was close and very nice. We think Sable had a little crush on the Dentist, when he walked into the room she giggled and squealed. Everyone was calling her "Little Shirley Temple."
Joel and I were given high praise for her diet. The Dentist said her teeth looked great and he could tell she didn't eat a lot of "bad" foods. *good parent sigh* I would recommend this place to anyone!

We're officially learning to much

Today Joel, Sable and I went to Children's Hospital for Sable's Genetic test. There were a lot of questions asked and answered. Sable is still without a diagnosis though we've crossed 2 contenders off the list: She officially dose NOT have Angelman Syndrome or Rett Syndrome. The nurses and Doctors all thought she was cute and loved her hair. We are doing the Genetic blood test tomorrow and we will be putting off the MRI for a few years. It's just amazing how many people are walking around without problems! So much can go wrong and so easily that it's shocking.

Onward (but slowly)

Sable had a Neuro-Developmental check up at Childrens Hospital today with "Dr. Beth". She's making progress but there's nothing new to report. They are thinking about doing an MRI on her head to see what's going on in there... I'm having flash backs to my Epilepsy diagnosis and all the doctors appointments I had. They would have to sedate little miss Sable and that's making me hesitate on making a decision. We are doing the genetics test next month. Almost everything in our lives lately feels like we are walking into a dense forest and we keep getting asked "How much deeper in would you like to go?"
What would you do?
