Men and women just think differently

Keri: "Do you know what this new oven inspires me to do?"
Joel: "Cook?"
Keri: "No. Buy a new fridge."

Eating doughnuts sounds like "Nom nom nom"

I bought Cliff a chocolate doughnut as a treat. He wanted a cookie. After several minutes of holding it in his hands complaining, I said "Mommy eat, nom nom nom."He went silent. I looked into the back seat of the car to see he was finally eating the doughnut and I heard him quietly say "I eat, nom nom nom."

Kicked in the Karma

I just got an invite to my 20 year High School reunion for next summer. I went with Joel his his 20 year... I made fun of him for being old enough to have his 20th....

"Celebrate good times, COME ON!"

The new bus driver always has music on in the mornings. Kool & the Gang's Celebrate came on while I was trying to buckle Sable into her seat. There were many dance moves to navigate but I got her secured and off to school shouting "Come on, Woo Hoo!"

October 19, 2014

the crazy things I say in the morning.

I woke up late and groggy this morning. I walked into the living room and saw Joel drinking coffee, browsing the internet. The kids were calmly watching morning cartoons and drinking juice. I said to Joel "Why do you look so sexy this morning?" Without looking up or changing his deadpan expression, he said,"You were up all night with cliff and you're probably just delusional"

WEST SIDE!

Clifton and I were waiting for the school bus and there was a girls soccer game starting across the street. They huddled and yelled "1, 2, 3, WEST SIDE!" and Clifton yelled back "NO!" I heard some girls giggle.

Counting our doughnuts...

Joel grabbed some doughnuts for the kids this morning. After Sable finished hers, she asked for more. Joel said, "No, you only had one." and Sable said, "We needed two."

What I said: "I joined a Gym today!"

Stacy's reaction: "...so." Hardly worth a phone call.

because Stacy had heard: "I drank some Gin today"

LOOK! new gym shoes. My yoga pants are going to make it to an actual yoga class. Go me!

"Yeah"

Joel put the kids to bed tonight. When he brought Cliff his bottle, Cliff was pretending to be asleep. Joel asked "Hey, Cliff are you asleep?" Cliff kept his eyes closed and said "yeah."

I was watching Sable shake an Ice Cream Cone Box, She says in her sad voice "It's so empty!"

Shopping with help

The kids and I went grocery shopping together this week. They were so well behaved I could hardly compliment them enough. When we got home I unloaded the groceries and discovered 3 packages of Jello Banana Cream Pie filling in our bags. I guess Sable needed a treat.

Wing man

Joel and Clifton went to pick up groceries this week. Joel came back home laughing. "Clifton said HI to every woman in the store. Every one of them." I guess the boys got a lot of attention.

Happy New Year!

Thank you, Jackie and Keith for the tickets to see Evita and babysitting the monsters on New Years Eve!

We needed coffee to stay up late. It worked! We were awake until 10:00pm! (we have kids...)

What a fun way to end a great year!

December 10, 2013

I'm a very smart mom.

Here is why. Cliff has been opening doors and playing with the door locks lately. It's hard to keep him contained now but he's pretty good at listening when I say no. I put on my coat and shoes to get Sable off the school bus and Cliff grabbed his coat too, he wanted to go outside. I explained I'd be right back with his sister. I then unlocked the side door to our house before rushing out the front door to meet the bus. Sable and I walked up the front steps holding hands and to her surprise, the front door was locked. I looked in the front window and saw Cliff running away very delighted with himself. I went in through the side door and we are all having a boring lunch together, inside a warm house.

*** UPDATE ***

And he is a smart kid!

So the next day, I unlock the side door, get Sable from the bus and discover we are locked out again. I walk around to the side door and he's standing in front of the door, outside. Staying one step ahead of this kid is a daily challenge to my logic skills and sanity. Next week, he'll be in his high chair when the bus comes. Checkmate kid!
